Te Araroa – Day 1 Home to School house bay.

Long day, left home at 6am. No bubbles in the Koru lounge in Hamilton, shame on them.

Wellington came thru with bubbles and a number of nibbles we pilfered for the journey. Easy hitch from airport to Blenheim town and then another easy hitch to Picton. A lovely guy and his 2 kids filled us in on many parts of the Richmond ranges, we were dreading this one but they made it sounds so beautiful I am now excited.

A feed in Picton and a bottle of Savignon Blanc in the park we boarded the mail boat to Ship Cove. After about 6 stops and a sleep (must have been the sun in the park) we landed at the same point Captain Cook landed 200 years ago.

Only 7km today we walked to School House Bay arriving at 5pm. Tent up, yummy dinner, good read (in tent away from sandflies) Lights out, big day tomorrow
